Bricks

I know this build is going to begin to slow down soon - but to go there and see about 10-12 guys working to get the bricks done made me smile big.  I was a bit concerned about the bricks being the wrong colour.  The people at Ground Up get you to give them an address and they will find out what colour brick it is.  I found that whole process a bit questionable as the bricks could easily be from a different company.
When they arrived on site I felt they looked too dark and had more black in them that I had hoped for.  Thankfully - now they are on their way up - my mind is at ease!

Such exciting times.  So happy to see the progress and so impressed with all Hadar are doing.

Frame

I arrived at Beechworth today to find that our frame has gone up!  Much excitement as I walked through the various rooms.  I'm beyond thrilled with the speed with which things are happening.
Kudos Hadar Homes!

....and then there was a slab poured!

More progress.  These early stages of the actual build seem to be moving really fast.  Again, thanks to the organisation of Hadar Homes.

I had a wedding to photograph in Kergunyah yesterday so went via the block to see how it looks with the slab poured.  Always looks like rooms are so small at this stage, but I know it will look fine when we move in!

Aaaaah - the feeling of progress is wonderful!  Frame starts this coming week.  Yay!

Its started!

I am so excited!  We've just returned from 2 weeks in Bali and on the way home we stopped in at Beechworth (knowing there was progress) to see the retaining wall done and also the site cut.  Small steps I know - but we are so happy.

It's been such a long road to this happening - there were times when I wondered if it would happen. But it has and I have to give full credit to Hadar Homes for the speed they are working at now.

So finally a win!

Kudos to Indigo Shire Council.  I contacted them on Friday and the end result today is that I now have an email from the most helpful and understanding person....telling me we can proceed with taking out the tree!  This means our latest estimate will be reduced substantially.  Phew.

We just need to get a permit (that the builders standardly have to get to put the crossover in).  I was kinda hoping council would agree to removing it...but I can't have everything.  I think we'll ask the people who do the site cut to push it over.

I've added some photos of said tree....as you can see it's pretty horrible!

We will, of course, replace it, but we'll do that down the long side of our block rather than the short side which the Council agree with.  They will also give me a list of the trees they would prefer planted.

Now....for signing our contracts early next week.
